GROOTS Kenya 2019 Newsletter
Throughout 2019, it was inspiring, energizing and refreshing. We started the year with an award from the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Hon. Keriako Tobiko and NEMA on the occasion of world wetland day for spearheading climate change initiatives and environmental conservation efforts in Laikipia County, we also got nominated for DIAR –AWARDS 2019 and awarded 2nd (Runner up) position on a Diversity and Inclusion award for Best NGO Program on Gender Equality.
During the year, we learned a lot, we claimed spaces and created our own spaces, we courageously made bold demands for accountability to gender equality and women’s rights, We used our power of movement building,, our creative and innovative tools to influence policy and connect locally and nationwide in the bid of facilitating grassroots women effective engagement in development .
As we start a new decade in 2020, we share with you some of our most significant moments, resulting impact and lessons learned. We are super grateful to our grassroots women, partners and allies for your continued and assured support in our collective quest for justice and fight for women’s rights.
