Gender Transformative Agroecology - Training Module for Farmland Ecosystem in Kenya
This training module, developed under the Rural Women Cultivating Change (RWCC) project by GROOTS Kenya in collaboration with HIVOS and Seed Savers Network, offers a structured approach to empowering smallholder farmers—especially women—in adopting agroecological practices. Rooted in participatory and feminist principles, the manual addresses the ecological, economic, and gender-based challenges in Kenya’s food systems. It introduces key agroecological and feminist agroecology concepts through nine detailed modules covering topics such as soil health, water conservation, seed security, natural pest management, and gender-transformative leadership. Designed for trainers and agroecology champions, the manual equips stakeholders to build resilient, sustainable, and socially just farming systems that enhance livelihoods and biodiversity while mitigating climate risks.
