Creating a Gender Equitable & Inclusive Response to GBV in Kenya

TYPE:
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a persistent crisis that worsens during emergencies, disproportionately affecting women, girls, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups. In response, GROOTS Kenya, in collaboration with the Women’s Refugee Commission, Pastoralist Girl Initiative, Plan International, ActionAid Kenya, and other key partners, has played a critical role in shaping localized, gender-equitable GBV interventions. 📌 Key Insights from the Policy Brief:
  • ✅ The crucial role of local women-led organizations in GBV response
  • ✅ Barriers to justice, service delivery, and coordination for GBV survivors
  • ✅ The urgency of decentralizing GBV resources to first responders
  • ✅ Policy recommendations for government, CSOs, and donors
This publication underscores the need for strengthened partnerships, increased funding, and standardized GBV services to ensure accessible and survivor-centered responses. Read how GROOTS Kenya and partners are leading the fight against GBV!
