Donor: GFW (Global Fund for Women)
GROOTS Kenya received a grant from Global Fund for Women to facilitate this project. The grant was used to create a digital database of rural women and girls’ advocates.
The Rural-Tech Academy for women and girls was rolled out as a platform where at least 150 women and girls advocate from marginalized and remote areas built their skills in using technology to: a) Strengthen grassroots women's rights movements. b) Conduct targeted and localized advocacy campaign messaging on critical women's rights issues, such as ending violence against women and girls. c) Promote the recognition of care work, sexual reproductive health and rights, and women's land rights.
Seven community-based women's offices were upgraded to smart community offices, fully equipped with regular internet.
A New-Age communication and advocacy officer was engaged to support the Rural-Tech Academy women and girls’ graduates.
