Makkah Moge Abdula is a GBV Responder and chairperson of Tawfiq CBO from Tana Delta Sub-County, Garsen South Ward, Tana River. She joined GROOTS Kenya in 2020 under the Jasiri Fund Project. In addition to being on the Court Users Committee, she also serves as the chairperson for Tana Delta's women. She formed Tawfiq, a group of 20 girls, after receiving training from GROOTS Kenya because she recognized the need to serve as an example in her community, with the following goals: to advance girl child education, to halt gender-based violence, to maintain societal peace, and to prevent female genital mutilation (FGM). Tawfiq Group engages in agricultural activities, and with the money earned, they uplift girls who live in extreme poverty and raise community awareness on public health care.
