Jennifer Kavenge Mutinda, a GROOTS Kenya champion from Lower Yatta Sub-County, Kitui, is a member of TEI WA W'O, a CBO formed in 2003 as an intervention for HIV/AIDS. As a focal leader since 2003, she has been a women mentor in various departments such as public participation, GBV, climate-smart agriculture, clean cooking, and advocacy, and attributes this as some of her successes, such as the initiation of Kamanyi Youth Polytechnic and Kamanyi Community Health Center. In collaboration with Kitui Level 4 Hospital, she led the mobile VCT and later the formation of a psycho-social support group. She also led the Lower Yatta community in starting World AIDS Day celebrations, which was a big step in creating awareness. Jennifer has developed several proposals to support the differently-abled and HIV/AIDS awareness in her location and participated in the development of the Kitui County Energy Master Plan. She has represented GROOTS Kenya and the Kitui community in both local and international forums. Currently, she is a Trainer of Trainers (TOT) in restoring trees and livelihoods by the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA), ensuring wood lots in institutions and households. In matters of leadership, she is the Chairperson of Kitui Paralegal CBO, Treasurer of Kitui PASUNE-Paralegal Support Network, and Deputy Head Teacher of Kamanyi Primary School in charge of the Environment.
