Hellen Wambui Wanyeki Ward-Nyathuna, from Kabete Sub-County, Kiambu County, joined GROOTS Kenya in 2014 and her entry point was the Women Land and Property Programme when they were doing public land mapping. She is the Kabete Sub-County Coordinator of GROOTS Kenya programmes and also a GBV Responder and, through this noble calling, is part of the Sub-County SGBV Technical Working Group alongside other stakeholders. She is a CHV from Kagima Unit and a Covid-19 champion since the onset of the pandemic, doing sensitization in her ward, churches, barazas, and other public spaces on the need for prevention and control. She is also a community mobilizer and a Budget Champion, where she mobilizes people for public participation in matters pertaining to public finance management. In her local church, she is the Health Board Chair, in charge of mobilizing health talks and medical camps. She is also the Registrar in the same church and Parish level, and has been the Chair of the Health Board for the last four years.
