Alice Wamuyu Ndungu

Alice Wamuyu Ndungu, a member of the Kairi Banana Growers and county sub-county coordinator from Muranga County's Kigumo Sub-County, Kahumbu Ward. She joined GROOTS Kenya in 2015 under the Women and Land Rights project on Public Land Mapping in two sub-counties, one of which was Kigumo, where they created an inventory that they presented to the County Land Office. They were trained as advocacy champions, and as a result of the training, she subsequently influenced her community in a variety of ways. One, In her ward, they were having issues with milk storage, leading them to lobby for a milk cooler, and the community elected her as the Chair of Kahumbu Dairy Cooperative. Alice has successfully helped in reclaiming public land that was intended for a primary school but was instead used by a private school.
Alice has been sitting in various bonds, e.g. Kigumo NG-CDF BOM Member, Githembe Secretary, Chairlady Mothers Union, ACK Church. She did a baseline survey and mapping for farmers under the REEP Project. She capacity builds and is also a Budget Champion who has mentored many groups as a result most of the grassroots women attend public participation meetings. Alice has vied as an MCA in Kahumbu Ward
